hi my grandmothers familly where roma people that lived in german occupied territory during world war2 one of her brothers was taken prisoner and send to labour camp.he lost 3fingers on one hand, was almost starved to death but he survived on top of that they had given him a nice present(he had a number tatoo on his arm) so he could never forget that terrible time..
another one he joined the ressitance to fight not only for the country he was born in (even thouh gadjikane say gyppo's dont have a country) but also for his relatives and for his people so they could live in freedom or at least live..he was the only one from my grandmothers familly that i've known. he was a wise man.. i remember that some romani people would ask money for the damage and losses they suffered(just like the jews, becoz the jews gotten alot of money) but for the romani people the answer was different.
they said gypsies where never victims becoz they are an ethnic minority they where victims becoz they where antisocials..until the 90's that was the answer romani people would recieve..i said why dont you try to get money from them?? my grandmothers brother said to me for a romani it aint good to complain. never depend on anybody, never ask help nor borrow from someone..it aint no good to depend on others..the thing is to let others depend on you..
i consider myself to be didikoi. i'm dark skinned so i had to face racisme from the gadjo side as well as from roma people that consider me to be marime. just to say racisme works both ways.. |

Latcho dives, hakeneste...
With reference to the Forgotten Holocaust of the Gypsy People under the Nazis I would like to point you all, if you haven't as yet seen it, to the movie from 1988 called "And The Violins Stopped Playing". I say no more that it is a very moving film and I can but receommend it.

My dear Vashengro, I am very proud of you for doing something for our Romane/Gypsies because that is the way to remind people who today they don't even believe that the holocaust ecxisted, we all paticularly the Romane Gypspsies, must fight for our feedom from discrimination, as long as it ecxists, other wise in time we will end up to be a FORGOTTEN RACE. we must not let it happen when I say fight I mean diplomaticaly, send letters to the Human rights or E-mail by the thousands, read every artical that comes in news papers about our race and also when they brutalize us usually in EU. complain to the local government, in any country that you are, like in Brazil for instance here Discrimination is absolutly, forbiden, and who might excercize it is sevirly punished, by the government! your fried Victor |

| mr. Bicks, i think that also in Bazil was Discrimination, but thanks to the black people from Africa here in some states the slaves fought the whites, and there was a lot of blood shed before they got their freedom and not only they but many other nationalities, who came as immigrants from Europe or else were, were not well treated till the up rise of the Black people, we got the freedom in Brasil but it did not come easy! as I see it nothing comes easy in this world of ours, as for us Gypsies, Brasil is helping those who need help, specialy in education, uptill the university for free, then when you get a good job you pay back for the university, for years to come, of course this what I write about the violence was more then a century ago or maybe tw your friend Victor. |
