I have thought a bit about this,how can we talk to each other and tell others of our culture with-out bringing up religion or what we beleive in.
for example i was brought up where if you hadn't had your child christened and you hadn't been to the priest to be churched, I would not be welcome in anothers home, and would be bringing shame on myself if I offered hospitality to another romani.
Our dead get to be sent to God, the night's before they are intered(burried) they are not left to the mulla,but guarded by morners. and sent to the grave with the last writes of passage to meet there maker.
please some well knowing person tell me how do we,tell of our day to day lives without talking,niether of how we live and enter the world or how we die and leave.
Plus the bits in-between.

well i think every one as there own beliefs Gypsy or traveller and gorgis
like i believe in being christened but not the rest of it my dad always told me
never to talk about religion or polaticks becos no one ever agrees its sure way to
get every ones back up but that my dad for ya pace keeper lol |

morning,and thanks for the replies. i agree that people can get very heated about religion and politic's. I also think we are in an enviroment,where we can safely discuss our thoughts,and may be challenge our own thoughts beliefs and cultures.
I am think the name of this part of the forum lets us have this space for such discussion between our-selves.
I personally would be very intreaged to her others beliefs, and how it manifests in there culture.
I know that in the romani there are many different ideas, belief systems and even complex moral codes.
I believe that every-one has the right to be who they are regardless of theses social barriers,and its only through discussion that we learn tollerance and true understanding.
I think no matter what we(the people) believe we all are equal and can allow another to be at difference to your-self with-out taking offence to that person.
I hope that no one takes offence to me as i mean only the best to all. I too am a very peaceful person by nature.
but if you've read my other things that i've put in,I am a very passionate and caring person, i would not stand by and see another in distress.
i think people are very fragile and gut hurt very easily. If i hurt or distress you in any way i am deeply sorry and i dont mean to.
I hope this discussion does go on further and i hope it flurishes into the good parts of our cultures. How-ever we live. |

I'm feeling a bit snowed under too,my house has not been kept up tofor the best part of a year where i have been so ill. i am getting better and so i am having to takle the house-work thats built up over the year.I am not as fit as i was so every-thing seems to take me ages.once i'm back on top of every-thing i hope to get myself back to doing some work in the community again as i dad before i got sick.staying at home every-day gets me down. |

A couple had been debating the purchase of a new car for weeks. He wanted a new truck. She wanted a fast little sports-like car so she could zip through traffic around town. He would probably have settled on any beat up old truck, but everything she seemed to like was way out of their price range.

Bang! You just nearly got me in trouble... was cackling my head off here at work (known as a "yard-fowl laugh" in Barbados) when a client came through the door! Oopsy daisy!
Aaamm... your spelling and grammar seemed to have improved with the New Year... yeah right, giggle! And I kinda doubt you've got enough sprouts to perm, cackling again.
