It might take a while to get a reply to such an important request. I do believe however that I have been guided to this point, somehow this is my calling and I...like any other Roma/traveller.. am guided by my head and my heart. I will achieve good thinks for my people..crown or no crown.
I am currently awaiting conformation of a Claim of Right which I served upon the Lord Advocate of Scotland claiming my right to live without governance of outsiders (non Roma). Once this is in place I intend to shake politics up a little and start working towards being a voice for my people. decisions are made almost daily that effect the traveller way of life with little or no consultation with us ...who is making these decisions? are there travelling folk in positions within government that contribute these decisions? How legally binding are these decisions ...these are the kind of questions that need addressing.

Sorry but as you say ""our own micro state" ?? I think that there are enough foreign people in England trying to tell the Country what they should or shouldent do and what they can or cant have etc ,and trying to inflict their culture on the British people i dont think a micro syate would go down well do you ?
Or do you mean in Scotland? seeing as Scotland wanted Independance and its own government and yet still receives English tax payers money!! maybe its time the English demanded English rule!! And most Romany consider themselves English after 600 years and fighting in the British army when called upon in the past history.
Then again is this a wind-up ? there never has been a king or queen of the gypsies that was just a title mainly to bull####t the gorga.
And seeing as the gypsies themselves cant even get on with Roma from Europe and Irish travellers and even amongst themselves!!!etc how can they unite in picking just 1 leader?Still an Interesting idea !!if impossible to achieve mind you maybe if the romany could agree upon their country or homelandthen they could all emigrate back if they dont feel england is their Home? and then implement their ruler and king/queen ?

Thanks jenster for your post and forgive me for not making myself clear, I was referring to the Scottish Crown of King Charles Faa Blythe of Yetholm as granted by Royal decree by King James iv. As far as as picking our own homeland I am sure if everyone left the UK to go back to the "homeland" from whence they originated from then the uk would be a massive empty space.
As for saying gypsies don't get on with Irish travellers or European gypsies, I see no evidence of different factions of Gypsies not being able to get on. |

| Ah i see well of course the scottish title is a different kettle of fish so my apoligies and fair enough maybe the direct descendant of the faa blythes could be nominated? but I think it was declined at the time if i remember rightly i think the story or history is on the Scottish travellers site ? |

I used to know a settled traveller in Edinburgh by the name of Anderson (a nice bloke, although he had a formidably reputation for his abilities with his fists.)
Anyway, although "settled" he was born on the road and, in pride of place on his mantlepiece, he had a photograph of his grandfather decked out in robes and a crown. It seems he was "King" at one time. Dunno if that helps or confuses the issue.
And Oi, Jensten! England does not subsidise Scotland. Britain treats Scotland's oil as being "extra territorial" - i.e. as though it's something seperate from the country as a whole and nothing to do with Scotland. It then divides the Revenues from the oil according to population. That means England gets 90%. The additional public spending in Scotland (about £1400 per head per year) is supposed to be our compensation for this glorified accounting fiddle. |

| i like the way people from england just think we are only here for there taxes. lol. are they having a laugh. like no-one else but the english pay tax. if thats truecan i have all that i've payed in the last 30yrs back? who sdo i apply to because i'ma traveller and they aren't meant to pay any. and niether are the scots so do you want your's back johnny. lol. i know i do. i'd love to know how you go about not paying any before the english government get they're dirty moneygrabbing hands on it.
any english know how we get back our money? we tried inland revenue but they say they've not heard of it. suprise suprise. |

| Donald, you must be kidding I am a Rom and pushing 80 years old, and have heard that before the second world war, In Poland some Gypsy clan some how managed to persuade the goverment to help them elect a gypsy King, but what they did not know was that, just to make fun of our Gypsies, because at that time in a cinema before the film starts they use to show all the worlds kings, and every body in the cinema should stand up in repect, but the last king that was shown was our Gypsy king dressed almost as a begger with an iron crown on his head, and very body used to laugh, that was our king that I know off. They won't be laughing when I claim tribal rights and I lobby government to recognise our tribal sovereignty and I will be doing my best to fight for our rights. Let them laugh all they want, if it makes them feel superior then so be it, but I am a Gypsy and I do what I do for my forefathers who have also felt the cold sting of ridicule but carried on regardless.

| That's my boy Donald, this is exactly what I wanted you to say, that what I wrote was decades ago, but today is a different, story we come a long way since that time, and as you said you must fight for our rights, now it is possible, but not at that time, but to fight them is a tough nut to crack, because of our ignorent Roma, who sometimes do not obey the law of the country they live in, and besides we never had a king and never will, even here in Brasil some Roma clans say that they are from a Royal decent,, in almost every clan, they call their small girls as Princeses, some time babtized as such, we do not want Kings or Queens, what we want is to get rid of dicrimination and justice from the country were we live in, so that some day we may belong to the family of the world. |

We did have a King his name was King Charles Faa Blyth of Kirk Yetholm.
I want to reinstate our tribal rights so that we can re introduce our ancient laws and customs, why should we be under the control of a government that is so obviously corrupt?
I recall stories from many Gypsies of how here in Scotland during the sixties they ripped camp sites apart and sometimes bulldozed them into the ground issuing threats of taking the children of them if the didn't settle into permanent housing, and now they charge us for the privilege by means of council tax..some cheek they have!
A tough nut to crack they may be, and I may not be they one that does it but I sure as hell am going to be the one who starts the ball rolling.
I would want us to claim our tribal rights and use them as a way to at least take back some pride! but to also claim sovereignty and form our own council made up of Gypsies and travellers, not some jobsworth who see us as a problem!
I have already claimed my own sovereignty by way of "claim of right" which was served to the Lord Advocate of Scotland and I am currently lobbying Msps etc to have our rights recognised.
I don't intend to be going cap in hand to these violent criminals we call Government ministers any more, they have taken away some of our God given rights (inalienable rights) and given them back to us under the guise of privileges which can be taken away if we are bad! Who gave them the authority to tell us where we can camp for instance, did God die and nobody tell me? Where and how did they acquire the land they use to build designated camp site which they so graciously allow us to camp at?...is it just me or can anyone else see that unless we take a stance pretty soon Gypsies and travellers are going to be merely mythical creatures from past ancient times.
I am sure there are others that feel the same way and we should all do something about it.
I will be making good my claim for the crown of the Gypsy King, and with it I will make a noise that will ring in their ears for as long as I stand. Things need to change before Prime Minister Cameron takes the same stance as President Nicolas Sarkozy is currently taking, there was I'm sure someone just like me in France trying to tell their people to take a stance before it is too late....bet they wished they had listened. |

Our last King was crowned in Scotland in 1898 and died in 1902 in Kirk Yetholm near Kelso. |

| My Dear Donald, you seem to fight for your self and those who are with you, no my friend I fight for those who really need help, in Europe, in the Ghettos, miserable, hungry brutalized by the government they live in, I don't want you to stop to fight for your rights, if you have the oportunity, do it, and my God be on your side, but my job is to fight internationaly, not with violence but diplomaticaly, I have contact with the Human Rights, they have send me an invitation to be an independent activists, but at my age I found it almost impossible, so I use my P.C. to fight and complain to good institution to help our people in distress, I am a writer a wrote a few books, now about my telling you which clan in Poland was elected by our Gypsies, this I cannot do, for obvious reasons,because if I do I shall be permenent enimi to this clan, I advice you to go to librery and look for the book that says about our history, especialy Gypsies of Poland.

You are so right, I also fight diplomatically victor, I hate violence. I know how brutalized people are around the world , I try to keep up to date with what is going on but I am glad to hear that you are fighting the good fight. Sometimes when I hear how brutal governments are it makes my eyes well up, and you know as well as I do that we do what we do because we care, and we make what little changes we can and pray they make life a little better for those less fortunate.

| Dear Donald, you must have heard what in France the government is doing to our people, they are imigrants from Romania , and Bulgaria, over 50 camps of our people were detroyed, almost 700 hundred Gypsies will be evacuated, but it is said that they will give every udult 345 dollars and every child 123, dollars, at least this will help them when they arrive at their destination, what awaites them there this only God may say!, all of this crack downs of Gipsies, Berluscony of Italy invented, now I want to know what the Human Rights and world community will say, what I also noted on the CNN, that they were well dressed, and did not look like beggers, may God give them a safe journey, and find them selves work, but these countries practice Discrimination I hope the world community will keep an eye on these people, not to be left on their own but to be intrigrated into the country's society. |

Yes Victor I have been trying my best to draw every ones attention to this tragic situation, Sarkosy should hang his head in shame.
I am also very concerned about the way our people are being treated in Kowsovo http://www.ess.uwe.ac.uk/kosovo/Kosovo-Closure16.htm .
Things are grim for these poor people and I feel for them. May God go with them. I worry for the poor wee children that don't understand why they are being persacuted in this way....I sometimes loose all hope for the human race when I see such horrible things being done to those who do not deserve it.

| it is only natural, these countries learn from each other, this Sharkozy for me is nuts in his country, there are millions of Muslims , Negros and millions of other countries, that are living eligaly in his country and yet he only chose the Gypsies, to be evacuated, did he for get that not long ago every night some imigrants used to burn cars in his country, because he prohibited the Muslim women to wear their traditional head cloth, but he lost on this one till today the muslim women in France wear what he has prohibited, I never liked this man, he and Berluscony don't look like leaders to me, and never will |
