Friends of Romanies and Travellers (FoRT)
FoRT is now back, thank you to all who gave me feedback on the previous site. I am sorry if the last site had a 'gothic' feel to it. That wasn't my intention and coming from a Christian and Catholic family myself I am sorry if you felt offended by it :o(
Anyway the designer has added some beautiful folk art for the borders and jazzed it up with gold. I'm not sure about you, but in true stereotypical fashion (and also in an Austin Powers style) I LOVE GOLDDDDDD, LOL.
I hope this group has a more welcoming feel then the last and I would love to have your feedback. We have updated our 'Journey Folk' banner and created one for 'Romani Roots'. If you have any problems or concerns with the new design of the banners please let me know.
I'm going let bygones be bygones and ALL are very welcome to come and join us!!!
Background Information on FoRT
"T'is the blood in one's veins and the DNA code on our genome that makes us whatever flavour of 'Roma or Traveller' we may be. It is not how we live, where we live, with whom we live... it's genetic. One cannot wish to be a 'Romani' and magically become this! You MUST be born a 'Romani' or 'Traveller'
FoRT is an educational and friendly online community aimed at Romanies, other Travellers and the Gadje (Non~Romanies) who want to show their support and learn more about the customs, culture, traditions & language.
The aim of this group is to help dispel the stereotypical images that some people have of the Roma and other Travellers. Putting a more positive outlook on the negative attitudes that still surround this beautiful yet misunderstood ethnic minority. Also we aim to help promote equal rights and opportunities worldwide.
Please join and show your support to the Roma and other Travellers.

They were all working only last night (well apart from Patrin)! I am beginning to think MySpace is a bit anti on what my group is regarding. I will be contacting my designer to see if she caninclude the web address in the banners themselves.
I have contacted MySpace hopefully 'this might' only be a glitch that can be mended.
I HATE MySpace, LOL. I think Romani Roots is a lovely group and you got to be careful about advertising it as you may get the 'wrong' type of people on that site if you know what I am saying.

| I tried and the link took me to a site that said be carefull about Phising sites and how some sits look like myspace but arnt and you can get a virus? so i just left it as dident know what was what? |

Yeq, i know what you mean about adveritsing - put it's a catch 22 isn't it?
They have to advertise to get members but advertising might get the wrong members!! LOL!
Still so far, and i have been a mmeber of that site since it the beginning, they havn't had any "shifty" folki - if you get my meaning.
Only seen one sort of "iffy" comment and that wasn't even on the forum - it was actually on a photo of me and the chavvies, and they couldn't even get their "facts" right! LOL!
Needn't have worried tho, coz the admin on that site are really hot on that stuff and soon sorted it - exit one dinlo! LOL!
Thanks for the "heads up" though - though it seems that they have it covered, good job you guys look out for one another - certainly makes me feel a whole lot better!

Hello,
My designer of the group managed to get the Journey banner and moth banner working, bless her. With regards to Patrin and Romani Roots Myspace has blocked the actual host of the websites as those hosts have had problem websites in the past. We are currently looking at away round this and will be including the web address to Romani Roots in the banner.
It is difficult with advertising isn't it. I know in my previous group I had a Romani with a problem with me and a few of my group members and she posted a few horrid threads with disgusting language. I actually felt embarrassed for her as the group is about trying to view Romanies and Travellers in a more positive light and reading her posts was making her look so bad, bless her. I think if you have issues with people you should sort it out privately instead of causing an embarrassing scene. It was bad as I have people under 15 that are members of the group. Also I have had Non~Romanies post messages and no matter what they read about Travellers have there own ideas in their heads and have been really rude and argumentative to my members, but at the end of the day I think you are always going to get dins who try to spoil it for others, fact of life.

Shame about the myspace blocks - but thanks for positng the url coz that will help - it's just such a shame that one bad website can make life so difficult for other websites, and for the hosts! LOL!
Well, i must say, given what you just said, that Romani Roots must have been lucky so far - but then the site is so new, maybe the dinlos, both gadje and Rom, have not found em yet?!
I suppose only time will tell. Maybe their strict policy, right from the get go, will make a difference and the fact that folki like you can offer them descent and helpful advice which can help protect against the wrong kinda of ppl. But then is only so much you can do - no matter how hard you try - like i said, maybe only time will tell!

Only one thought - hope it was the right site - coz i do know another site has the same name!
Did the one you found have autum leaves tumbling down, painted vardo logo with red ROMANI ROOTS label and beneath that the title "The Truth"?
If so, you got the right site! LOL! Sorry but some folki do get us muddled with the Kent group of the same name, you see?

Hi Cuba,
Thanks for thinking it was me who named the organisation - but sadly i'm not that clever! LOL!
You see Romani Roots the organisation was set up last year, and the site didn't happen till March this year - the name of the organisation was decieded by the Committee and voted on by it's original members - democratic folki that they are!
It was named Romani Roots because of the ideals behind it's conception - QUOTE: "supporting ALL those of Romany heritage - regardless of upbring or % of blood".
I suppose a cushti slogan would be "If Romany is in your roots, you're welcome!" LOL! By the by, that was just me, they don't have a slogan! LOL!
But traveller and gorga are welcome too - i think it's more to do with educating and supporting then owt else.
Anyways, glad you got the right site - have a dik around and if you see anything a miss or needs adding just email them - they like imput, QUOTE: "as it makes for a better organisation and site".
