| Hi,
I went to Appleby horse fair and had a great time! really felt at home! and kind of a strange pull!!!
Looking through my family i was aware that either my gt gt, or gt gt gt grandma was a traveller! anyway i am still trying to look into getting her full name and details etc, i wonder if anybody could had any ideas of where i could get details, all we have is a picture of her that was like part picture part portrait, it was taken we believe in the late 1880's or so in Carlisle and we think her surname was either miller or miller mckenzie?

| Hello everyone, I'm trying to post an introduction but I can't start a new thread apparently, it just refreshes the topic instead? Maybe I'm doing something wrong, help would be appreciated.
But anyways, I'm Naomi, I'm descended from Romani (my mother used the word Sinti?) in Poland, but my origins are really unclear and I haven't had much luck tracing them, I think that's because of the Holocaust but I'm not really sure. Lots of lost identities in my family it seems, and we are really bad at staying in touch.
I moved to Canada to start my life over with my daughter three years ago, and I have two other children now and a great husband. I came to this forum to learn more about a part of my heritage that seems just astronomically important to my soul, I think. Sorry if this is a poor introduction but I don't know what else I should say here! |

My dear Becci042009, well since you want to talk to Roma/Gypsy, only I am not from England, I am a Russian Gypsy who lives in Braazil , and i can thank my lucky star that I have raised my family in this wonderfull conutry, I say this because in Brasil discrimination is complitly prohibited, I also know that in England that our Gypsies are doing fine, nuturaly there is some small trouble with traveling families, but, compared to the other EU countries, yours is far better then the others, thank God, I lived for a while under British rule like Shanghai, Honk kong, Singapore,etc, although that was very long ago, let's say half a century ago, they have never discriminated Gypsies, on the contrary I went to school which teached English, and my friends were all from England, and they knew that I was a Gypsy, and till today I want to find Ronny Macintoch, but to no avail, any way my friend if you would like to ask me questions, I am at your disposal
