RomanyRoad ROMANY ROAD is a non-political, non-profit-making society, our aim being to share and enjoy memories and reminiscences of Romany Life. We are not a family history society, although details of family history will, of course, sometimes be relevant and of great interest to people researching certain family names. Our ambition is purely to celebrate and record events in our ancestors' lives and we invite anyone to send us their contributions.
We try to capture glimpses of by-gone days, that allow us to present our old folki with respect and admiration for their tenacity, way of life and survival in what was sometimes a very hostile environment. We welcome any contributions of information, stories, photographs, sketches or poems, which will appear in our quarterly journals. We would however, stress that views of individuals who contribute to the society, whether expressed through these pages, through our journals or elsewhere - are not necessarily those of the committee or other members.
UK Membership costs £9.00 a year, which includes postage.

The Scottish Gypsies
The Gypsies of Scotland are part of a
close-knit communal people who have a shared background, but are
scattered throughout the world. Their origins have been the subject of
controversy throughout the centuries, but in modern times, we have
discovered, from research into their language, that the gypsies
originated in Northern India, from whence they spread throughout Europe
and the Middle East. No one knows when the first gypsies left India or,
indeed, why..
