Hi all, I'm writing a feature on the traveller culture, history and lifestyle and would love to hear your views. Why is it that you think society still stereotype and discriminate against the culture, and why they deem it somehow acceptable to do so? Do you believe this view will ever change? And what is it like to live this way on a daily basic, the pros, cons and why is it so fantastic to be a traveller?! All views welcomed, would love to hear back from you. Thank you!

People discriminate against others because they don't know them at all. Take the Romany gypsies. People discrinate because people think they are dirty and all that. But in fairness the romany gypsies are sound. I know a few families that are proper romany gypsies and they have never caused trouble. Brilliant at art. Makes me priveleged to meet such amazing people

dear Sian62, I for my self as a Romano rom have nothing against this traveller culture, first, because my clan the Lovara, in Russia also travelled as they do till today in England, on the contrary I would like to experement this type of day to day living, my eldest told me about it, and always said that the life on the road was wonderful, but I am sorry to say that times have changed, and like it or not we must change with it, although it is a good life, but for the sake of our children we must stop to travel, so that they may go to school, and be some body tomorrow, but travellling with our children, this keeps them away from school and as I think to study is very importend, for the future of the child, just read about our ignorent Roma , how they suffer in the hands of some countries who till today practice Discrimination, but on the other hand, who am I to tell you not to travel, this is supposed to be a free world, so it is up to you all to make your choice. Salut Victor, and the others there too.
Nice to hear about you, speaking about the theme of traveller and life on road. I would to tell that I have been travelling all my life, at first been out there at sea moving from place to place by ships and living in those copy holes for years I couldn't get rid of the lifestyle to move. so when retired I bought a motor-home and have spent moving life for six years, Now I have settled down and have elected an apartment to live in, but how I llong back to my motor home, I am just like a dog who have miss his mastter.
I have done my travelling alone, been visiting every corner of Europe, some time feeling cold and with little money in my pocket arguing of a parking places, Stiil I cannot hep but say, the freedom is worth of it.

people do not no anything about us and what they do no they dont understand. i do not believe things will ever change for us. i love being a gypsy from the bottom of my heart and i would never want to be anything else even though i have a hard time just for being what i am. evrywhere i go i get discriminated against, when i walk into a shop i get followed by the security even though i not a thief. i think it not fair the way people can talk about us we the only minority that can be called names and all labelled as same. if u want to no anything bout my life then contact me

mr.becci042009, I want you to know that I am proud of you, for saying that you are a Gypsy and would never change, because you love to be a Gypsy, that makes two of us, I also love to be a Gypsy you are very right that most of the people in this world, do not know what a real honest Gypsy is! I have seen many countries in my life time, and met many other Gypsy clans, and believe you me, our love for life is nothing compared to the other countries, our souls are always happy our hearts are all the same, full of fire, that makes other strangers envy us for what we are, I always pray to God to thank him that he made me a Gypsy.
your friend Victor.

My Dear Jennymariex, that is the way to do it, of course, like you said, you have both, a house and Vordon. use your house when you work, and go arround with your vordon on week ends, or on holidays this way you will kill two birds with one stone. and do not worry there is good laws about travelling is coming up, at least what my fellow ACTIVISTS say! let us all pray, so that this may come true!
