I said in Brazil because I know the ways of the Brazilian Matchvaya. I live with them in the same city of San Paulo for more then 45 years, but there are Khoraha, who are very similar to Matchvaya, that mostly live in Chile, Santiago. I have also met them, but they are Muslim, their ways is unknown to me. The language of the Matchvaya and the Khoracha is almost identical, so I think that once upon a time they were one people in one place. Coming back to the Brazilian Matchvaya, this race is from ex Yugoslavia, and is very modern, almost as we the Lovara, I heard that a long time ago they used to have a price for a bride, but today there is a price, but it is symbolic. They pay the bride let's say just for a dollar, but that is not to say that the bride went free, but in compensation. Their weddings are fabulous and sometimes last for three days! They also carry a red flag symbolizing the virginity of the bride, but I have never heard that the bride must show her night gown with the blood to any one. These Gypsies are the most educated that I found in Brazil, they have doctors, engineers and commercial activities, etc. But the main supporter of the family is the house wife, by fortune telling, it does not matter if her husband is rich, but she still helps him with at least house expenses, this is in their blood, not to mention that I consider them the best fortune tellers in Brazil. They only wear long skirts on weddings or feasts, otherwise they dress normally, and they don't look like Gypsies, more like plain Europeans. The women as well as the men, in this clan I have a lot of good friends, and we visit each other every now and then.
